30 Day Challenge

Amber didn't post the 30 day challenge update last week so I ignored it.  Why you ask?  Well, of course because I did horribly.  However, I have no good reason.  I have been lazy and selfish.

Amber will be posting updates on Mondays now.  I will be joining the next challenge, starting tomorrow.  Here is what I will be working on:

1-Continue (or shall I say start again) daily devotional reading.  Reading with the children and family does not count.

2-Continue on the Nutri-system program, my way.  (Did I even mention that I started NS a couple of weeks ago.)  What I mean by my way is that I eat most dinners with the family-what they are eating.  My goal is to overall make healthier choices, and eat proper portions.  I've been doing well.  Actually today was my worst day so far.

3-Spend less time wasted on the computer.  I have things that I need to do on the computer (check and respond to emails, write my TOS reviews, etc.) Those things are fine.  But no more time wasting!

30 Day Challenge update

Well, I missed two days on Bible reading. The truth is I am not happy about missing any days. I really don't like that. It would be different if I had a good reason but I don't. I am going to forgive myself now and move on. I will do better for the next week! I will read everyday!

I recently started a new private blog for my Bible reading. When I'm reading, I read on www.biblegateway.com and copy and paste verses that stand out to me. Sometimes I will comment on the verses. This is my form of journaling and it seems to be working well. I like being able to write freely without thinking about whether what I write makes sense to others or whether someone else would find it boring. It's my own journal. I have been finding it helpful. I may occasionally write about what I'm reading here too.

I gave up on the exercise part of this 30 day challenge. I will add it for the next 30 day challenge. I'm ok that I failed in this area. The Bible is way more important. Also, this doesn't mean that I will not exercise until the next challenge--just that I'm not going to stress over it.

I have a few blog posts in my head but who knows if I'll get around to actually writing them.

30 day challenge update

I missed reading 3 days this week. But when I do read, I love it. Exercise, well, not doing so well there. I did do some purposeful walking last Saturday but I didn't do much else.

Right now I am just feeling a little overwhelmed with everything. I am trying to get things ready for school in the fall-I will be facilitating two co-op's although one of them it looks like there will be only one family joining us (it will still be fun!) My mother-in-law's surgery that she was supposed to have last Thursday had to be postponed. In addition, she had to have more tests and more doctor visits. Now my mom has gallstones and might have to have her gallbladder removed. (Pray that she doesn't.)

Hubby and I are working on what our priorities are for our family. We are figuring out what we can get rid of and what we may add to our schedule without over committing. We both also agree that we need to be better examples to our children in many ways.

World Traveler had some blood tests done recently to check for food intolerances and allergies. He got his results this week and needs to really change some of his eating habits. One thing that showed up was an allergy to milk. Really? Well, at least we've had a year of no food issues in this house.

I got upset with the kids today when I told them they needed to clean their rooms and the playroom. I ended up lecturing them for too long. Sigh. I am unhappy with our house right now. In my head I want to organize everything and get rid of things-lots of things. I have done a little bit here and there but it isn't enough and then I get lazy and quickly things go back to being unorganized, messy and I'm frustrated again. I need to just find 3 days and go through the whole house, without my kids home. It would be great if World Traveler would be here to help though. We could get a lot done. He does have some vacation time coming up and we are not going anywhere. Hopefully we will get some things done!

On the other hand, I shouldn't allow a messy house dictate my mood. I need to learn to deal with the chaos around me without getting frustrated with it. God has been working with me on this and I have seen improvement over the years. I know that I lean on my strength and not on God often enough. Honestly, I don't really know how to lean on God's strength. I'm not really sure what that means.

I do not mean to sound like I'm whining. There is much good going on right now too. I'm excited for the co-op's-it's something the kids and I both enjoy. I really like getting to know my mother-in-law better. Hopefully the food changes in our house will help us eat healthier. On Monday I finished my two week challenge of not eating any chocolate and it went really well! I have a little bit of chocolate left over from this week. Once it's gone tomorrow, I am going to do a three week on chocolate challenge. The weather has been wonderful. I love the sun and the cool mornings. I have only one more day to scrapbook for last year's Europe trip! The family has been staying healthy. We enjoyed the visit from my husband's dad and his wife.

God is good always. So yes, right now, I am feeling challenged but I am also feeling loved and blessed and cared for.

30 Day Challenge

I was supposed to update yesterday, but forgot. This week was a little off. World Traveler had Wednesday off so Thursday felt like Monday and Wednesday felt like Saturday and today feels like any day but Saturday. Weird.

1-Bible: read Tues-Thurs. I didn't read last night. I finished up Proverbs and have decided to move to Corinthians. I have given up on Isaiah for now. I need to be a bit more focused for that. I am finding that reading my Bible daily (almost anyway) really helps me cope with things. I struggle a lot with feeling God's presence in my life-I have for a long time. (It has nothing to do with what He does or doesn't do for me.) Even though I don't feel God's presence the way I would like to, I know He is there and reading His Word does guide me closer to him.

2-Exercise. I am failing in this area big time. Let's see, I walked with Precise Prince for about 20 minutes during Creative Princess's gymnastics on Tuesday. That's it. Nothing Wed, Thurs or Fri. We bowled on Wed. but I did nothing to make it purposeful exercise. My goal is to be purposeful.

How hard can this be? Well, I have excuses. I get up intending to exercise before a shower. Then by the time I get to the shower, I realize that I didn't exercise. So I just forget it. Yes, things are strange around here. I don't always know until 9:00 who will be showing up at what time (conerning the nurses and therapists for my mother-in-law.) So I will need to renew this part of the challenge and try to figure out a way to make this happen. (I did get some walking in today.)

30 day Challenge

Today is my Day 30 for the last challenge. I did not read my Bible yesterday. When I got home after a meeting last night, I was not feeling well and ended up going to bed earlier than I usually do. Since I am starting a new challenge today, I am calling it good on the old one. I did miss a few days, but I started some new (or rather renewed) some good habits. I will be continuing with Bible reading in the new challenge.

Amber started a new 30 Day Challenge. I think it started yesterday. I had planned to start yesterday, but had an unexpected trip to the walk-in clinic with my mil (she is fine) in addition to an already busy day so I am starting today. Here are my challenges for the next 30 days:

1) Read at least one chapter of the Bible daily on my own. Reading with others does not count.

2) Exercise for 10 minutes at least 6 days a week. It isn't much but it is a start. The exercise needs to be purposeful, but I can count unusual things for this section. An example would be if I were to do some strenuous house cleaning-not my regular, daily cleaning.

Amber is going to update on Fridays. She has her BFF designing a button for these challenges too. I will be grabbing her button when it comes out and updating on Fridays too.

30 Day Challenge: Day 24

My friend Amber started a 30 Day Challenge almost 30 days ago. I got in a little late so today is day 24 for me.

My goal for these thirty days was to read the Bible daily. It's something I like doing but I get slack about. I always learn something when I do read. In order to keep track, I've been posting on my blog every day or two what I've read. It is much easier for me to keep track this way. So today I read Proverbs 24 and 25 and Isaiah 7.

I also want to share my last post I wrote about what I read:

Proverbs 23: 20 Be not among drunkards or among gluttonous eaters of meat, 21 for the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags.Wow! That hit me hard. Solomon is saying that the glutton and drunk are the same (in a way.) I think our society thinks of gluttony as a minor sin, if at all. Gluttony is wrong. I am a glutton and struggle with it! I think I will be posting these verses up to remind me. It can be so easy to look at the alcoholic and think "Thank you God I dont' have that problem" without looking at the plank in my own eye.
