What's Up

I realize that last week I posted a Wordless Wednesday but it was really Thursday. I definitely had my days mixed up. Maybe I'll change the title.

My mil is recovering in the hospital from her surgery. It's a slow recovery. She had hoped to be back here by today or tomorrow but it will be at least a few more days.

We had our neighbors over for dinner on Monday night. We really enjoyed a chance to get to know them better. Our kids play together very well.

The kids and I have had two very lazy days. They both woke up yesterday not feeling well with sore throats and Precise Prince had a stomach ache. I knew they were a little off but I thought a day of rest (yesterday) was all that was needed. They had extra screen time (our way of saying computer, video games and/or TV), we made sun catchers and played a game and just had a quiet day. (I did manage to not be completely lazy and got some laundry done and a few other chores.) Today, however, they both woke up obviously not feeling well. Creative Princess came into our bedroom in the middle of the night coughing, and sneezing. Precise Prince had body aches off and on all day, alternated between feeling hot and cold and just didn't feel well. Hopefully, they are both better tomorrow.

World Traveler starts a two week vacation on Friday. We are actually hoping to go camping-in a tent. If you know me well, you know that I do NOT tent camp. I have always joked that we can go camping at my sister's house. (The sister who lives on a lake.) They can pitch the tent in their yard and I will sleep in the house. LOL

I actually have a few good memories of camping growing up--but we had an RV. I loved playing in the woods and being creative. My kids love playing in the woods and being outside and I know they would enjoy camping.

So hopefully, we will get to go. It will depend on my mil and how well she is recovering from her surgery. We won't go if she needs us--she is way more important. Besides, we can always go in September when the kids go back to school. World Traveler has more vacation time.

Catching Up

World Traveler's dad and his wife have been here in the States for three weeks. They went home yesterday. While they were here we went bowling, went to my husband's sister's for a BBQ, walked around a nearby city and just spent some time together. World Traveler and his dad made fish cakes (a traditional Norwegian dish) and Precise Prince was quite happy. He loves them too. Creative Princess and I however, do not!

The kids and I started a new review for the TOS crew. One thing I want to work on with both kids this year is cursive writing and the review is for a cursive writing program. Perfect!

My mil had a doctor's appointment today and goes in for a major surgery on Thursday. This is a surgery she was expecting and is happy to get it over with. Pray that surgery goes well and she recovers easily.

We went to a local carnival on Saturday. It was hot and crowded and we didn't stay long but the kids got to do a few rides and games. I got a Juega tatoo. (I think that is how it is written. It's like a henna tatoo, but a darker color.) It's a flower on my forearm. I would never consider a permanent tatoo but it's fun to do something a little different every once in a while.

The kids have spent time playing outside with friends and enjoying the weather. We are all enjoying the nicer weather.

Week in Review

(I have given my family nick-names for my blog. My husband is World Traveler, my son is Precise Prince and my daugher is Creative Princess. For those who read my last blog, this is a change I wanted to mention so this post makes more sense.)

We had a nice week spent mostly at home. On Monday, the kids hung out with Denise and her kids while I took my mil to the doctor. She didn't get a date for the surgery but the doctor said she is doing well and we'll go back in two weeks to see if she is ready for surgery. (She was in a car accident in March and has some internal injuries in addition to many broken bones that are on the mend.)

The kids played outside a lot this week with friends. It was nice to see how well the kids all played and I love that they got some much needed outside time. Sometimes I don't think I allow them to play outside enough.

We had my great niece on Thursday and I took the kids to the library that morning. Creative Princess spent most of Thursday reading and said she finished all the books she got. Now if I can get her to read some more difficult books. :-)

Monday was also our anniversary. The World Traveler and I went out to dinner-alone! As usual, we enjoyed our time together!

The kids found some bugs on our front yard tree that they didn't know what they were. So Precise Prince asked me to get all of our insect and bug books for the boys to try to figure out what they were. I looked up orange and black bugs on the computer and between all of us, we believe the bugs are ladybug larvae.

The boys (my son and some friends) found a nest in our back yard (at least, I think that was this week. Maybe it was last week. LOL) The nest is in the ground next to our house. We also have a nest in our hanging plant out front.

And of course, Creative Princess had gymnastics and we had visits from the therapists, nurse and nurses aid for mil. So overall, a busy but productive week.
